One painter, one number

Houston’s Painting Plus is one person. No office, no sales desk, no crew that turns up in my place. When you call the number on this site I answer it, and the person who walks through your house with a notepad is the person who paints it.

Every job so far came from a referral

Until this site went up I had no website, no listing and no ads. Every job I’ve done came from someone who had already hired me and passed my number along. That’s still how most people find me, and it keeps me honest: a referral only lasts as long as the last job was good.

If someone I’ve painted for sent you here, you already know what to expect. If you found me on your own, ask for a reference and I’ll put you in touch with a past customer near you.

What I care about

Clean lines. The cut where the wall meets the ceiling, the edge along the trim, the corner where two colours meet. That’s where a paint job gets judged, so that’s where the time goes. I tape, I cut in by hand, and I don’t rush the second coat.

Honest quotes. I don’t list prices, because a number without seeing the room is a guess. You get a walkthrough and a written quote instead: every surface, the prep, the coats and the timeline in one number. It holds unless we change the scope together, in writing.

Showing up. On the day I said, at the time I said. If something shifts, like weather on an exterior or the job before yours running long, you hear it from me first.

How I run a job, day to day

First morning. I walk the rooms with you again, check the colours against the quote, and set up: drop cloths down, plastic over what stays, tape on everything that isn’t getting paint. Then the prep: filling, sanding, caulking, priming where it’s needed. Prep is most of the work and the part nobody sees, which is why it matters.

Every evening. Tools out of your way, floors swept, and if I’m doing several rooms, at least one is yours to use. You shouldn’t feel like you live on a job site.

Last day. I walk every room with you in daylight, touch up whatever you point at, and leave the leftover paint labelled by room.

The Plus

Most painting jobs turn up something small: a sticking door, a cracked line of caulking, a loose handrail. If I’m already in your home with the tools out, I’ll usually take care of it. That’s the Plus. Painting is the trade; the repairs are a courtesy for painting customers. Ask at the walkthrough and I’ll tell you what I can fit in.

When a job needs two people

A whole-house interior on a deadline or a two-storey exterior sometimes needs a second pair of hands. When it does, I bring in someone I’ve worked with before, and I’m on site running it. Nobody you haven’t met turns up to paint your house.
